About Student Research Symposium

In 2016, NUST students identified the need to host a Student Research Symposium (SRS) aimed at changing the current student research culture, with the purpose of igniting a passion for research by encouraging students to conduct applied research, which would strengthen Namibia’s competitiveness and transformation to a knowledge-based economy.

The SRS aims to achieve the following:
- Enhance the culture of scholarship through applied research and publications among students and young researchers;
- Equip students with technical and scientific writing skills;
- and Present them with an opportunity to develop soft skills and showcase scientific work.

This year, the Call for Papers is open to students from other higher institutions in Namibia, thus also giving those students an opportunity to participate and demonstrate their work.
